Well, we made it. After a long travel day, we landed in Casablanca, Morocco.

After waiting an interminable length of time for some luggage, we met up with our guide, Mohammed, and drove to the hotel along with the rest of our group. There were 23 or 24 of us in all, and we represented 8 of that total. As expected, we toured Casablanca. The guide didn't seem too enthralled with the city. A number of times he said something to the effect that we shouldn't buy anything here, there were better opportunities in Fez and Marrakesh.
Our half day of "provided" sightseeing included the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque. We went early and paid extra to get inside during one of a few open windows during which they let the infidels in. I used my credit card to pay, and Peter says that will probably put me on a list of Muslim sympathizers. Oh, well. It was an interesting tour, and it gave me some ideas for redoing Indian River Baptist Church. They have a retractable roof, which they only open for big draws, like Ramadan and when Billy Graham comes to town. They have a swimming pool in the ladies room. Talk about a water closet!

We also saw the Corniche seaside, and took a short drive through the residential areas of Casablanca to the city center to visit the Mohamed V Square, the Habous quarter and to the Notre Dame de Lourdes Cathedral. We didn't get out at Mohamed V Square. Too many people and nothing specific to do.
